Anyone checking out Las Vegas must go for a tour to the Grand Canyon. The ultimate way to visit the West Rim will be by taking a helicopter ride. A basic tour that many choose is the basic air tour. This particular one flies you to the West Rim and back. If you so desire, you can upgrade by including passes to the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. You can even decide to land at the canyon’s base. This is just an example of the tours that await you. If this has fired up your imagination with possibilities, please read on. I’ve got a lot more to share with you.
Trips for Everyone!
If you choose to land at the west airstrip, get ready for an amazing experience. Begin by walking 70 feet beyond the edge of the rim using the internationally famous glass walkway. Then, enjoy lunch and use the complimentary shuttle to some interesting nearby lookouts. One popular bottom landing flight takes you 4000 feet right down to the base of the canyon. Here you can enjoy a Champagne picnic with your family and friends. While at the base, why not upgrade your trip to feature an awesome steel-pontoon boat ride on the Colorado River? Las Vegas is the only place from whence travelers can fly down to the bottom of the canyon and take part in such incredible activities.
Let's Fly!
The perfect time to fly is in the morning. This is when visibility is perfect. Air is usually more stable (less turbulence). However, if you can’t book a morning flight, consider a sunset trip when the canyon’s steep cliffs are at their most spectacular. Helicopters support up to 6 people plus the pilot. Seating will be based upon weight and there are front-seat upgrades available. Try to fly in a deluxe helicopter like the EcoStar 130. These helis feature 180-degree windshields and are generally set up for theater-style seating so everyone receives a picture-perfect look at the National Park.
Items to Bring
I always tell people to bring their digital cameras and video cameras along with them. Make certain they are completely recharged the night prior to your departure. If you’re a shutterbug like me, take along extra memory sticks. Extra batteries are invariably a wise idea. No worries if you get swept up in the experience and then forget to snap photos. Most helicopters include digital cameras that record the entire trip for you. These DVDs cost extra but the quality is superb and worth the cost.
Landing an Awesome Deal
Reserve your tour no less than 72 hours in advance of your desired travel date. Helicopter tours are popular and it’s not uncommon for them to be sold-out. So many people don't get in the air because they wait until the last minute. Follow my “three-day” rule and you will avert disappointment. Next, book your tour on the internet. Trust me, the best discounts are on the net, not in the hotel lobby. Purchasing travel online is safe and simple. To take a line from Geico Insurance, “Even a caveman can do it.” Really, saving money on air tours hasn't ever been easier.
1-2-3, Lift Off!
Vegas helicopter tours to the Grand Canyon are a incredible way to explore the best of the Seven Wonders of the World. Flight time to the West Rim is only 45 minutes, making these trips the ultimate day trip. The selection is big, too, covering anything from thrilling air-only flights to adventurous landing tours. Come one, come all. The canyon calls. And there is no better way to conquer it than in a helicopter straight out of Vegas.

ReplyDeleteI took the Scenic Airlines jet over Grand Canyon last year. Love it! It is really a good (many) steps away from the slots and buffets. But after the ride, it was more buffets that night. :p
