As an ex Hialeah girl, I have visited Amelia Earhart Park on countless ocassions. I have attended birthday parties, I used to walk and run (mostly walk the endless jogging trails). And after my sons were born, I use to take them to the kiddie park to play. I also visited the park with my two Lhasa Apsos so they could run and frolick in the grass (before Bark Park was built in Amelia Earhart).
However, in September 2012, I visited Amelia Earhart Park on two separate ocassion to go biking in their awesome mountain bike trails. We went biking on September 8, 2012 and September 29, 2012. The benefits of biking in Amelia Earhart are also endless - here are few:
1. It's free - only a $6 charge per car.
2. Tires out my two energizer bunny boys.
3. Great exercise for mom.
4. It's awesome for taking pictures. (You know I always have my trusted and beloved camera when I visit a South Florida Attraction or any attraction with my boys. And then I blog about it).
5. Park has so many other activities that kids love - check out the brief summary below about the numerous activities.
Check out my slide show about the Amelia Earhart Park - I am working on my YouTube video but between working full-time, blogging part time and being a mon and dad for my boys, you're going to have to wait!! I hope you like the pictures!!

Amelia Earhart Park - Brief History
The story of Amelia Earhart is full of acclaim, astonishment, and mystery. She is known globally for her amazing aviation achievements but is mostly remembered and analyzed because of her mysterious disappearance in her last ill fated mission she was unable complete. Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. In her last mission, she was to become the first female to circumnavigate the world, Regrettably for her and for her loyal followers, she never made it and her disappearance has been a intriguing and bizarre mystery ever since.
During her final attempt, she flew into Miami, Florida. She eventually took off from Hialeah, a fact many are unaware of. Earhart departed from Hialeah on June 1, 1937 and arrived in Lae, New Guinea. She had already traveled 22,000 miles and had 7,000 to complete the mission, which would be over the Pacific. The last target destination was Howland Island, however there was no documentation or evidence she ever arrived safely. To this date, there are still no conclusive facts as to what actually happened but there are countless theories.
In addition to being known as pilot with amazing aviation achievements, she was also a best-selling author describing her flying experience. Among many accolades, a park in East Hialeah is named after her to exemplify her many achievements. The Amelia Earhart park is now a family environment where family celebrations take place every weekend. It is now a staple to the community but it is crucial to remember the person it is named after.

Bill Graham Farm Village
The Bill Graham Farm Village is a custom re-created Miami-Dade County homestead that incorporates components of pioneer farms from the turn of the century with some pleasant modern additions such as an air-conditioned Country Store and a Demonstration Hall. The Farm Village at Amelia Earhart Park offer today's urban kids a chance to learn about Miami-Dade County's agricultural past by visiting a replica of the kinds of farms that once abundant in three-quarters of the region.
Park visitors can enter the farm through a bougainvillea-covered trellis and walk to the Barn where the petting zoo area is located. At the petting zoo, you can pet live cows, horses, ponies, goats, chickens, pigs, sheep, geese and donkeys.
The Demonstration Shed offers demonstration on common farm activities which include horseshoeing, cow milking, livestock judging and sheep shearing.
Earhart Hall is a huge meeting room for lectures, exhibits on early farm tools and resources and other displays such as home canning and organic gardening guides. To the left of Earhart Hall is the Crop Area which has a variety of vegetables and over-sized sunflowers planted on more than two acres.
Behind the Hall is a sugar cane press and boiling shed and that processes sugar cane syrup, the kind our grandfathers refined into molasses and brown sugar. The Smokehouse produces delicious savory and fragrant hams and smoked turkey. It's next to the Farm's own Babbling Brook.
The pony ring, on the side of the Barn, has plenty of benches for tired parents to sit and wait while watching their kids ride a pony, jump into a huge haystack or "drive" an old tractor.
The Country Store is surrounded by a shady and enticing porch that is stocked with tons of goodies. It even has its own post office. There's also the old Fishing Rock, where you can cast a line into a freshwater lake stocked with large, fat bass.
